Kon kaisa nagaduhaduha na ako sa ginabuhat sang mga madre sang Carmel sa amon nga mga pari.  Abi ko sila ang nagapenitensya para sa amon, pero ang gwa sini daw ako na ang nagpenitensya tungod sa ila.  Pagkabaton ko sang sulat nahanungod sa akon pamalandongan upod sa inyo sa sini nga adlaw daw malipong ako sa kalisod (kon si Msgr. Amads pa).  Ang akon topic Human Trafficking – ano naman-an ko da?  Maayo lang kay si Sr. Inday ang ginapamato nila sa pag-atubang sa akon.  Maano ka pa abi kon pagkatapos nga makita mo ang tema singganon ka “Father, father gusto mo cockatiel, si Mother to nagbuto ang iya cockatiel.”  Ti maano ka da.  Subong, feeling ko, ako ang biktima sang human trafficking.

Ngaa ano ang human trafficking?

Ginresearch ko ini sa Wikipedia nga nagasiling, “human trafficking in a more narrow sense is used by advocacy groups to mean the recruitment, transportation, harbouring, or receipt of people for the purposes of slavery, prostitution, forced labor, and servitude.”

Pero sa serioso nga istorya, halos kada semana mabatian naton ini nga mga hitabo sa balita kag kon kaisa sa aton mismo palibot.  May mga recruiter nga nagpromesa sang matahum nga trabaho kag maayo nga sweldo.  Dumdom mo, amo na ini ang imo ticket paguwa sa kaimolon.  Apang paglakat mo, the nightmare begins.  Gin-applyan mo waitress ukon domestic helper, igo mura natup-an mo GRO ukon worse ang nasodlan mo prostitution. 

May iban nga nag-apply sekretarya apang tumupa sa sweat shop, nagatrabaho sa sulod sang diesiocho horas, ginapatulog sila sa gamay nga kwarto, indi sila puede ka gwa.  Dayon gaan lang sila sang katunga sang ginpromesa nga sweldo.  Indi ka man tani luyag pero anhon mo kay may utang ka nga dapat bayaran kag kon magpuli ka, ano ang ibayad mo? 

May ara man nga halin sa uma, promisahan sang maayo nga ulubrahan sa siudad bilang kabulig sa balay only to end up working as a slave, ginasakit kag sa balita kagab-i ginpainom pa sang duha ka baso nga ihi tungod kay nalipat sia mag-flash, bisan ang police nga naga-interview sa ila naghilibion. 

Ang bata kuhaon, kon kaisa kidnapon, saguron sing maayo, ginapainom pa vitamins, padala sa kon diin man nga pungsod, usually sa Middle East.  Para sa ano?  Child Organ trafficking – operahan agod kuhaon ang kidney, ang atay, ang cornea kag kon ano pa, para sa makabayad nga cliente.   These are all examples of human trafficking.

Ngaa kasubong sini ang nagakatabo?  Mahimo bala ini sang tawo nga may konsiensiya? 

Kon ako lang ang pamangkuton, kag kon pagustohan nyo lang ako sang akon isabat, ang masiling ko lang, mamay nyo – marisi naton tanan.

Siguro nagadumdom kamo nga kon ang simbahan maghambal kag magpamatok nahanungod sa contraception, nahangunod sa abortion ukon nahanungod sa reproductive health bill, siguro nagadumdom kamo, “ari naman ang mga pari kag madre pinahilabtan naman nila ang sex, waay na gid sila sini obrahon, ano abi kay mga deprived sa sex.”  You may say what you want but this I want to say, the Roman Catholic Church is the only institution in the world, the only remaining institution that has been consistent in its teachings regarding the sacredness of human life and therefore the sacredness of the human person from the time of its conception until we die.  Ang simbahan catoliko gid lang ang nangin consistent sa iya pagtuluohan nahanungod sa pagkasagrado sang kabuhi sang tawo, kag sang tawo mismo halin sa pagpanamkon sini sa taguangkan tubtob nga kita mapatay.  Life is sacred, human life is sacred, the human person is sacred.  Tinker with that at any point of human life and you will slowly but surely erode the moral fabric that makes us see life and the human person as sacred.  Pahilabti ang kabuhi kag ang kasagrado sang kabuhi, tawga ang pornography nga freedom of expression, tawga ang abortion as the right to choose, tawga ang contraception as  informed choice, tawga ang ligation as responsible parenthood, tawga ang prostitution as hanap-buhay lang, tawga ang euthanasia as the right to die and a compassion for the suffering, and what have you– a slow but sure erosion of the moral fabric that holds that life is sacred.  

Look at the line of reasoning :  The fetus is just part of the body of the woman which she can choose to do away with like mucus in her nose.  In prostitution human bodies are used to earn a living.  Pornography is a big and profitable business venture.  Ma pa-ligate kita kay naga-imol na ang aton nasyon tungod kay kadamo na sang aton salaguron. 

In this kind of reasoning the human person becomes a thing and a commodity; the human person becomes an obstacle to our progress as a nation; a human being becomes an obstacle to my personal convenience.  So do away with it, get it out of the way. 

So, no the church is not talking about sex!  It is about the sacredness of human life, it is about the sacredness of the human person.  Tinker with that, pahilabti ina, hampangi ina and the whole structure will slowly crumble.  We are slowly eroding the moral fabric that makes us see the value of human life and the value that makes life sacred.

Ano ang labot sang human trafficking diri?  Usara ang tawo agod makaganansya, usara para makakwarta, usara para magmanggaran kita, importante may kwarta.  Ti ma-antus sia, ang iya pamilya maantus, mapatay sia, magguba kabuhi niya, magguba ang iya bwasdamlag.  Bahala da sia, ang importante makaganansya.  We have now come to that point when we have totally destroyed that faculty in us that makes us see life as sacred.  We look at a human person and we see nothing but profit, makwartahan.  Man is no longer the image of God, man is no longer the person for which Jesus suffered and died for on the cross – man is nothing but a commodity, a thing that can be used and will be used for my own selfish ends. 

The Pope has just released his third encyclical letter Caritas in Veritate, love in the truth, isa ka sulat nahanungod sa ekonomiya.  Ang Santo Papa nagsiling, every economic decision has a moral consequence.  Indi kita magsiling nga wala kahilabtanan ang aton pagpaimpierno ukon ang aton pagpalangit sa aton sahi sang pagnegosyo kag pag-ganar.   

Mahimo nga sa aton pagnegosyo nagapanumdom lang kita kon paano magganar, nga ang labing importante amo nga makakwarta kita sa sina nga transaction.  Bahala na nga wala sila ginasweldohan sing sakto, bahala na kon wala sila sang galastohon sa ila retirement, bahala na kon magmalasakit sila – basta makaganansya.  Kon kaisa masiling pa kita, maayo gani kamo kay gintagaan ta pa kamo obra.  If you begin saying that then our line of reasoning is no different from a human trafficker.  Ano ang diperensya mo sa illegal recruiter who would not hesitate to take advantage of those who are already poor to bleed them dry with what little they have left.

Human life is sacred, the human person is sacred – dira ina tanan nagahalin.  Once you begin to compromise the sacredness of this life and the sacredness of the human person from its conception to his or her death then diri sini nagasulod ang kapintas sang tawo sa iya isigkatawo.
